Coffee and Gerber Daisies

 Published in

Manca's Cafe has been upgraded and with this enhancement, a new logo now appears. You may ask, "why coffee and gerber daisies?" Well, coffee cups represent good company, the warmth of delicious espresso and Seattle (Mark's hometown). Gerber daisies represent Mark and I in love, life and beauty.

Hope you like the new site!

wishing we had cable tv tonight

Sadly, I'm using NYTimes' dashboard to view the Oscar results. Not that I'm usually that into the Oscars, but feel like if I had live broadcast access to it, I would watch it for sure.

Maybe it's because of Hugh Jackman hosting? Maybe it's because there are some really worthy folks up this year? It is exciting to be part of such a glamorous event. It's not like I have a big red carpet event or lifetime achievement award in Consulting. I'm sure to those celebrities, it's just another night to put on a show.

Well, good luck Hollywood. Hope it's your night tonight.

1/2 way there!

Feeling great, and can't believe almost 4 months have passed since we found out we were having a Bun.

I've been so lucky that I haven't been sick at all. I've actually been eating better than I can ever remember!

My friends are right - time goes by fast and slow. Seems like forever to wait until the baby is here, yet it's coming up very soon.

2008 New Years Oregon Coast & Seattle Click photo to see slideshow

December 27 - Our second part of the trip landed us in Seattle to see the Mancas! We had Christmas while in Seattle before we headed to cottage at the Oregon Coast. We thought this would save on the amount of stuff to haul to the Coast. Only our main gift to the family was some "Badass Crabbing" logo shirts for everyone.

Later that Saturday, we hung our with our favorites - Scott and Julie. We ate at Spuds, grabbed a Tullys and then played Wii at their place. It was so much fun. The guys rocked it out on guitar hero!

2008 Christmas in Harlingen Texas Click photo to see slideshow

December 19, 2008 - Mark and I try to leave Ottawa airport for a US tour: Harlingen Texas to Seattle to Portland and back to Ottawa. Only the weather this year had different plans for us. Our flight was cancelled when we arrived to the airport. We planned on flying Newark > Houston > HRL.

Instead, in a brave effort by Lovu, we drove to Detroit. Yes, we drove through the snowstorms in Toronto which were coming towards Ottawa in the next 48 hrs! The drive is supposed to take 9 hrs. It took us 12. Had we not drove, we would have missed the entire leg of the tour. NWA was planning on rebooking us 3 days later. With Ottawa expected to get over 25cm, we took our chances!

Baby Manca

 Published in

Today, we laid eyes on a very special person, the one growing in my belly. The one making me smile and giggle uncontrollably. The one that made me give up lunchmeat. The one we love so very much.

We met Baby Manca during his/her first photo shoot. Like any celebrity, he/she put his/her hands up as if to say, "stop, no wait...take it from this angle."

The ultrasound went really well! We saw the heartbeat which was normal beats/minute. Mark and I also saw the baby kick and wave it's arms. It even reclined his/her little head back - totally relaxing. Baby Manca is roughly the size of an avocado - about 3 inches in length.

2008 NYC weekend

What an amazing, and yes, relaxing weekend in NYC! Mark and I had both dreamed of visiting New York for longer than a transfer to another flight.

Mark and I did everything we could - Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Empire State Building, Central Park, walking around Manhattan, the subway, saw a show called Fuerzabruta, and most importantly visited my old friend Minal!

While in town, we also managed to go shopping for the biggest maternity store around (3 stores, 3 levels!) and to drop off my US ballot to confirm my absentee hopes of getting Obama in office - it worked!

Long time in the making - my first book

 Published in

In college, I had this idea for a lifestyle guide. I always thought it would end up being about relationships or success. In many ways, that's where my ambitions and dreams were at that time.

Long since, I've considered the same idea but to a broader audience - people who I think are similar minded in their approach to life. Maybe they have the same passions as me, or maybe they run into the same hurdles as reoccurring themes in their lives?

This book, which I'm crafting on this blog site, is the working rendition of these ideas. Feedback welcome.
